The Changing Room

Looe-based folk band The Changing Room delivers original, award-winning songs in English and Cornish language.

Formed in 2014 by Tanya Brittain and Sam Kelly, R2 Magazine said at the time “It feels like a little musical magic happened”.

The band is already multi-award winning having won Kan rag Kernow 2015 and the International Pan Celtic Song Contest 2015. Sam also won the Horizon Award at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards 2016.

The band’s debut album Behind the Lace is listed in The Telegraph’s “Best Folk Albums of 2015”.

“Beguiling, Behind the Lace will ensnare folk fans.” The Telegraph

“A brilliantly recognised slice of modern folk music.” Bright Young Folk

Tanya Brittain

With a musical career spanning thirty years, Tanya brings a wealth of creative influences and performing experience, which is immediately apparent in the subject matter, depth and beauty of the songs she writes.

Tanya has also been hugely influential in promoting live music and festivals in the South West – including Looe Music Festival. Originally from Sheffield, she has lived in Looe, Cornwall for ten years, providing an excellent backdrop and source of inspiration for songwriting.

Sam Kelly

Singer and multi-instrumentalist hailing from Norfolk. Sam’s link to folk music is in the Gaelic folk songs that his Irish grandfather would teach him to sing as a child. Sam’s other folk music projects include the Sam Kelly Trio, and Sam Kelly & the Lost Boys who played Southwell in 2016.
