Summer of Love @50

montage with words

Between 16th and 18th June 1967, almost exactly 50 years before our 2017 festival, the Monterey International Pop Festival took place in California. It began what was to become known as “The Summer of Love”. It marked the emergence into the mainstream of the US underground hippy movement and resulted in one of the most creative and memorable years in music history.

We’ll be celebrating the anniversary with a concert on Saturday afternoon where festival artists will come together to showcase some of their favourite songs of the era. Jim Moray will lead the concert, in the same way he did at 2016’s Dylan@75 concert – which, according to Folk Radio UK was “one of those never to be forgotten festival moments”.

We are also supporting Flower Pod Southwell and their charity Reach Learning Disability,  and we encourage you to join in the fun by using their locally grown flowers to make a summer of love headband or bracelet – they will be on site all weekend.

Dress the part , put flowers in your hair, and enjoy!
