Kris Drever
Kris Drever picked up two BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards in 2017, Singer of the Year, and Best Original Track for If Wishes Were Horses. Drever’s voice and guitar now form a part of the backbone of today’s contemporary roots and folk scene. Hugely admired as a solo artist, collaborator, and member of folk superstars Lau (with whom he has previously won 4 BBC Folk Awards) he is a phenomenal and prolific artist.
His 2016 album, If Wishes Were Horses, is a collection of more personal and political songs than we’d seen on previous solo albums, being wholly self-penned, and stemming from a move back to the Northern Isles, Shetland this time, and the discovery of new lyrical voices to describe his life, times and wild new surroundings.
