Kate Rusby

We are really thrilled to have Kate Rusby headlining on Friday – 9th June 2017.

2017 will mark an incredible 25 years in music for one of the most recognisable voices on the folk scene today,  The Guardian described her as “a superstar of the British acoustic scene.” and in 2007 the BBC website described her as “The first lady of young folkies”. She is one of the few folk singers to have been nominated for the Mercury Prize, and is four times winner of BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards  – and the accolades keep on coming.

She has the ability to bring songs alive with sadness, vitality, cruelty, laughter: a remarkably interpretive singer, Kate’s soulful vocals resonate with the wistful beauty of an earthbound angel. Inhabiting a lyric with unforced conviction – no matter how old or how modern – she has that rare ability to transport her audience, of touching them emotionally and making each tune live vividly within their experience and imagination. It’s a precious gift attained not by resource to decibel blasting or histrionics but through simplicity, understatement and faith in the narrative drive of the songs she chooses to sing.
