JAMES EDWYN AND THE BORROWED BAND
James Edwyn & the Borrowed Band were at the 2016 festival, on the Thursday and Friday, and they were so well received we thought they should come back to play on Saturday and Sunday in 2017.
The Glasgow sextet was formed in 2013, and is led by James, a grizzly bear of a man with a very impressive beard, and a warm personality, with Emma Joyce as co-vocalist and harmonies, Scott Keenan – vocals, keyboard, Ronnie Gilmour – guitar, Ross McLaughlin – bass, and Neil McDonald on drums. They were influenced by folk singer songwriters such as Woody Guthrie and Bob Dylan as well as alternative country artists such as Gillian Welch, Dave Rawlings, the Felice Brothers and Ryan Adams.
More than anything James Edwyn brings beautiful melody to his blend of alt-country or folk-americana (whatever badge you want to give it).
“This record is a grand collection of classic alt-country sounding songs, delivered with style poise, and soul. Alt country gold.” Americana-UK
