Latest additions to the weekend line-up are two bands who both got together whilst studying at music colleges. Heavily influenced by post-prohibition era jazz and modern swing revival, the Chuck Pinkett Quintett formed at the University of Westminster in spring 2011.
Chloe’s Passion are a trio playing a mixture of Scottish, Irish and English traditional music. They are all students on the folk degree course at Newcastle University and include in their number Niamh Boadle formerly of Tri and no stranger to Southwell, having performed at the last two festivals.
Joining the list of top British songwriters lined up for this year’s festival which already includes John Tams, Roddy Woomble, Pete Morton and Steve Knightley we can now announce that Steve Tilston will be performing on Saturday. The joint winner (with Bella Hardy) of best original song in the 2012 BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards, Steve is also a fantastic guitarist who we are really looking forward to welcoming to Southwell.
BBC Radio 2 Young Folk Award winners Greg Russell and Ciaran Algar, Young Folk Award and Horizon Award nominee Luke Jackson and up and coming singer songwriter Jess Morgan have been added to the bill. Jess will be appearing on Thursday and Friday, Greg and Ciaran on Saturday and Luke will be with us for the weekend from Friday.
Multi- award winners, Oysterband, the band our regulars have most requested, are booked to headline on Friday. The sensational Gordie MacKeeman and his Rhythm Boys, Faustus and John Doyle are also now all confirmed.
‘Eliza Carthy & Jim Moray: The Wayward Tour’ complete with ten-piece folk supergroup are booked for Thursday evening concert.
Idlewild frontman, Roddy Woomble, is the latest addition to the 2013 line up

Are you unable to come to this year’s festival? Are you coming but have friends or family who are unable to join you? If so, we have the solution: for the first time, we are providing a live stream of the festival, free-of-charge, via the internet.
A team of camera men & women will be capturing all the best bits; these will be processed on-the-fly in the new editing suite, and uploaded via a satellite link to the host site for your enjoyment.
